Justyn Warner of Markham, Ont., finished eighth in his 100-metres semi final clocking 10.47 seconds. “I am going to stay positive looking forward to the relay; we have a really good team and we will have some good runs. Thank you everyone for the support! The experience was great and it is just a small stepping stone for London 2012.”

Ste-Justine, Que.’s Julie Labonté finished ninth in her shot put qualification group registering 18.04 metres and did not advance. “I was expecting a personal best but it was a really great experience. In the women’s pole vault Saskatoon, Sask.’s Kelsie Hendry missed all three attempts at 4.40 metres and finished 12th in group A of the qualification with 4.25 metres; Kelsie did not advance.

Tomorrow, Day 3 will see the start of the heptathlon where both Ruky Abdulai of Coquitlam, B.C., and Jessica Zelinka of London, Ont., will compete in the 100-metre hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-metres.

The men’s 3000-metre steeplechase heats will also take place tomorrow featuring Lac-aux-Sables, Que.’s Alex Genest in heat 1 and Oshawa, Ont.’s Matthew Hughes in heat 3.
