DECATUR, Ind. – RuthAnn Miller had a runner’s gold mine boxed up in the closet of her rural Decatur home for 35 years.
   She just didn’t realize it.

   After all, Ruthie didn’t really understand who Steve Prefontaine was, nor what he meant to America’s running community.

   But she knew he liked her hair style. She’s got letters from Prefontaine to prove it.

   A whole box full of them. Letters and postcards. Newspaper clippings and pictures.  Invitations to meet. Descriptions of his family. Christmas greetings signed, “Love, Steve.” A collection potentially worth thousands of dollars.
