'400M NOT ON RADAR UNTIL AFTER LONDON 2012' BY KAYON RAYNOR, Senior staff reporter [email protected] Monday, September 14, 2009 Triple Olympic and World Championships gold medallist Usain Bolt will not contest both the 100 and 200 metres at next October's Commonwealth Games in India, as he tries to recuperate after two tough seasons. That's the word from Bolt's coach Glen Mills, who prepared the 23-year-old to break the 100m and 200m world records in the last two seasons. "The Commonwealth Games is a long way down the road and that is something that we haven't decided on yet and if he does go to the Commonwealth Games, it won't be to double or anything," Mills told the Observer. "Maybe a one event and a relay, but nothing like a full programme as the World Championships or Olympics," the veteran Jamaican coach added. Bolt wrapped up his 2009 season, which saw him win the sprint double in Berlin last month, by clocking 19.68secs to win the 200m at the World Athletics Final in Thessaloniki, Greece, yesterday. Mills disclosed that Bolt will be competing in fewer race in 2010 as he prepares for packed programmes in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Read the full article at: www.jamaicaobserver.com
