Preparation - Charlie Kern - Super Distance Summit 2010

York Community High School (Elmhurst, IL) assistant cross country coach
Charlie Kern came to the Super Distance Summit as an accomplished
runner and masters coach. Now in his 40s, he is still quick enough to
pace the mile at the Midwest Distance Gala every June. Charlie was Joe
Newton's right hand man for over a decade and eventually took over as
track coach when Mr Newton retired from coaching in the spring in the
early 2000s.
The old say "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail" would be an easy way to say that Charlie Kern and Joe Newton are big believers in being prepared to win and then trusting in that preparation is just as important as doing it.
