American marathon Olympian Ryan Hall will announce tomorrow that he will run in the 2009 New York City Marathon for the first time.
Hall will comment about the decision on a teleconference scheduled for Thursday and hosted by the New York Road Runners, which organizes the race.
The New York City Marathon, celebrating it's 40th year in 2009, will be Hall’s sixth marathon and his third in the United States. The race will serve as the 2009 U.S. men's championship. Hall holds the American record in the event with a 2:06:17 at the 2008 London Marathon. He ran an open marathon in the United States for the first time in Boston earlier this year, finishing third in 2:09:40.
Hall made his American marathon debut with a win at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in late 2007 in New York City. He finished 10th in 2:12:33 at the 2008 Beijing Olympics marathon.
