WINTER PARK —
Trinity Prep senior Amanda Powell won the long jump, ran the lead-off leg on the Saints' winning 4x100-meter relay team and finished second in the 200 meters Friday at the Class 1A FHSAA girls state track meet on Bob Mosher Track at Showalter Field.
Largely because of her efforts, Trinity Prep finished fourth with 36 points. Gainesville P.K. Yonge won its second state championship — its first since 2005 — with 73 points, edging Port St. Joe with 70.520 points and Naples Community School with 38.
By winning the long jump, Powell stood in the way of Port St. Joe junior Kayla Parker, winning four events at state for the second year in a row.
