The Happy Wanderer

If you guys thought I was out of region being in Asheville this past week, you'll really think it now. The picture above would be the oil tanks on the west side of the Jersey Turnpike just south of Newark Intl Airport made famous in the opening credits of The Sopranos. I'm presently in Danbury, CT on my way to Green Mountain Running Camp in Lyndonvile, VT. Yep, Vermont. The previous week in Asheville was tremendous. Coach Benson's coaching staff (as usual) did an excellent job teaching the campers to train and race intelligently. As a former member of the SMRC recreation staff the previous 3 summers, I was pleasantly surprised by the new guys who brought awesome, new activities to the nightly schedule that will surely become camp stamples. Concluding this year's SMRC experience was yesterday morning's run...errr climb up the infamous Buzzard Bait Road. As with most of the other runs, Buzzard Bait is in the Pigsah National Forest but it climbs roughly 1,000 ft over the final 1.5 miles of the 4.5 mile run. Yes, you read that right. Anyways....It was good to be back in the South for a short-time. I won't be getting any sweet-tea or Cheerwine for a while now unless you guys can convince Pascal and Brett to send me south. Feel free to send them emails at [email protected] and [email protected] :)
See you all when I get back to the Midwest, Chris
